I can't believe they generated a neuron in my backyard (Stanford). Wow!

I know this is with mice and could take a while to apply to humans, yada, yada, but this advancement has great implications in treating neurological conditions.

HUGE

Maybe not the end, but a very bright light.
THANKS!

This is great movement forward, but how many years does it take to go from testing on mice to applying to humans.

Mice are a lot closer to humans than test tubes are to mice.

I think, how fast commercial applications would be available would be partly based on how viable and useful this is for Parkinson's, Alzheimers, etc.
Those seem to be the top priority for neuro research, and we benefit a bit from that because otherwise Ataxia is too rare to drive a lot of research.

Next steps would be to do this on humans and have trials.
If all goes well, I hope that within 5 years, this technology would be applied/available commercially.

this article made me smile:

Despite my ignorance in the neuro field, that does seem pretty significant.
