Topic: Financial and Legal Considerations for Individuals with Disabilities and Their Families  

It is critical to understand the various financial and legal considerations for individuals with disabilities. Having a better understanding will help you to be better prepared now, and in the future. This workshop will discuss important government benefits (Social Security Retirement, Income, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Family Benefits, Spouse and Survivor Benefits, Children’s Disability Benefit, Medicare, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medicaid, and more). Financial instruments, life insurance, and employer benefits will also be discussed. Because having an integrated legal and financial plan is critical, some of the various legal instruments to consider will also be addressed (Wills, Advanced Medical Directives, Durable General Powers of Attorney, Estate Planning, Trusts, and more). Although these issues are complex, and many times exhausting, having clear understanding of the issues to consider will help you to develop a secure plan.
