From 1:00–1:45 PM on Sunday, April 26, you are warmly invited to attend the open house at Dr. Karen Takashima’s clinic.

Dr. Takashima has been a physical therapist for 29 years. She currently specializes in the treatment of scoliosis, general outpatient orthopedic conditions, and balance rehabilitation for individuals recovering from falls. As her Ataxia progresses, Karen continues to thoughtfully problem-solve each new challenge it presents. From adapting the equipment in her gym and the way she navigates her space, to modifying the type of needles she uses for dry needling. She remains deeply committed to providing the highest quality care while creatively navigating her own journey.

Please join us to meet Karen, tour the clinic, and celebrate resilience, innovation, and community. Karen’s medical office is in a building with ample parking, is accessible (including a bathroom), and there is a seated waiting area if needed. Following the open house, please proceed just a few miles north on the same road (23/High St.) to the Old Worthington Library.

APRIL MEETING TOPIC (AND INVITATION FOR EACH OF YOU TO PARTICIPATE)

With Ataxia and aging in general, we each have to adapt and modify doing things we enjoy (hobbies, travel, etc.), how we accomplish tasks at home and work, and even change our mindset. Karen will start our meeting by sharing her own actions and considerations of ‘how to navigate through the world with mobility challenges.’ You are each invited to share something that you are able to continue doing/enjoying through your own modifications.
