Many individuals with ataxia have not seen healthcare providers who specialize in this condition, or they may be unsure of the specific type of ataxia they have. The UNC Ataxia Specialty Clinic offers specialized care focused on diagnosing and managing ataxia. The clinic is dedicated to helping individuals better understand their condition and supporting them through personalized care and treatment planning.

Ataxia Pediatric Transition Specialty Clinic (UNC)

UNC also offers a Pediatric Transition Specialty Clinic for children with ataxia aged 13 years and older. In this clinic, patients are seen by a pediatric neurologist, a movement disorders specialist, and rehabilitation therapists. The goal is to support a smooth transition from pediatric to adult care by introducing patients and families to the adult care team early, fostering independence, and empowering families to feel confident and prepared for the future.

Genetic Testing and Neurogenetics
