The Ataxia Open: Pickleball Tournament was created to honor Deanna Adams, who passed away from Ataxia in 2023, and to raise awareness and funding for this devastating disease. Ataxia has affected Deanna’s family for generations, and seeing someone so strong taken by a condition with no cure was heartbreaking.

Inspired by local charity events, Deanna’s family—with the support of friends and their broader community—launched a tournament that blends fun, friendly competition, and purpose. The Ataxia Open is more than a game; it’s a way to honor loved ones, fuel research, and bring hope to families impacted by Ataxia.

Their goal is to grow this into an annual event that continues to expand in reach, impact, and community spirit.
