Accommodations for School-Aged Children with Ataxia

Students with ataxia may experience challenges related to mobility, communication, fatigue, fine motor skills, and participation in the educational environment. This session will provide families and caregivers with an overview of educational supports available through schools and introduce federal resources developed by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). Participants will learn about IDEA, related services, accommodations, modifications, and transition planning. The presentation is educational in nature and is intended to help families better understand available resources and identify questions they may wish to discuss with their educational teams.
