2022 AAC Goes Virtual

The health and safety of our community is our number one priority at NAF. We wanted to let you know that we are pivoting to a completely virtual 2022 Annual Ataxia Conference. We will no longer offer an in-person option. While we’re very disappointed that we do not get to see you face-to-face, we are excited to move forward with our virtual conference. Thank you for your support and patience as we work to bring you a terrific experience!

How This Decision Was Made

The continuously evolving guidelines and restrictions around travel and gathering in large groups, particularly with the recent emergence of the Omicron variant, make planning an in-person event very challenging. After medical advice from top Ataxia clinicians we decided that a virtual conference was the best option. While we would have preferred to have waited longer before making this decision, we had to consider the substantial increase in fees from the host hotel after December 1st for cancellation of our contract. We want to have an in-person conference when we can do so safely and with greater confidence that travel will be safely permitted for all attendees. We apologize for any inconvenience. We sincerely hope to be able to get together face-to-face in 2023.

Cancel Your Hotel Reservation

If you booked a hotel room at Caribe Royale with NAF’s group rate, your reservation will automatically be cancelled without any fee. You will receive an email notification of the cancellation from the hotel. If you would still like to keep your room reservation, you must call the Caribe Royale to re-book your room at 1 (800) 823-8300. Caribe Royale will still honor the group rate that you were offered, but you need to act quickly.

Cancel Your Flight

If you booked a flight, contact your airline to learn your options for cancellation.

Update Your Travel Grant Application

If you applied for a travel grant because you planned to attend in-person, please complete a request for a scholarship to the virtual conference.
