State of NAF

Thank you to everyone who joined our State of NAF webinar. It was an opportunity to reflect on where we’ve been, where we’re headed, and how the voices of the Ataxia community continue to shape our path forward.

During the webinar, we announced a transformative gift from an anonymous donor that we received. It was an extraordinary act of generosity that has made our new 2026–2028 Strategic Plan possible. This donor must care deeply for the Ataxia community and believe in what can happen when thoughtful investment meets lived experience, scientific rigor, and collective determination. To this remarkable donor, we say THANK YOU.

This gift was not treated as a windfall; it was treated as a responsibility.

Over the past year, we listened closely to community feedback, evaluated unmet needs, and worked across our leadership team and Board to build a plan that is bold, realistic, and deeply intentional. Every expansion outlined in our strategic plan, from strengthening research infrastructure, to expanding community services and advocacy, to improving access and connection to our programs, was carefully designed to create lasting impact for people affected by Ataxia. We are profoundly grateful to this donor for trusting NAF with such a meaningful investment that empowers us to focus on accelerating progress and improving lives.

As we look ahead, we’re energized by what’s possible when philanthropy, partnership, and community come together with purpose. This moment reminds us that progress happens because people believe in this mission and choose to invest in it.

Thank you for being part of the NAF community. Your engagement, trust, and support continue to move this work forward.
