A generous family stepped forward to MATCH THE MATCH for April’s Accelerate! Double the Drive campaign. They contributed an additional $50,000 in memory of Carol Tate, whose legacy continues to inspire hope for families affected by Ataxia.
We’re grateful for her family’s continued support of NAF’s mission to accelerate treatment development and support families affected by Ataxia.
Celebrating Carol's Life and Commitment to the Ataxia Community
We are deeply grateful for the life and legacy of Carol Tate, who passed away this month. As a former co-leader of the St. Louis Ataxia Support Group and a regular contributor to Generations magazine, Carol generously shared her wisdom and warmth to help others live better with Ataxia. Her dedication and compassion left a lasting impact on the community she so deeply cared for. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her loved ones and honor the difference she made in so many lives. Thank you to his family, for continuing Carol’s fight to improve the lives of people living with Ataxia.

"Carol Tate was a dear friend and dedicated co-leader from 2017-2020 of the St Louis Ataxia Support Group. We’ll remember her fondly as an integral part of our group and doing the good work to build the St Louis group. She would lament that Ataxia was not, and needed to be, a household name, like ALS. Carol always stepped up to help, advocating for Ataxia research--visiting our Congressional leaders--going with the group to see a musical, navigating our schedule, securing awareness and fundraising at local TV stations, recruiting new members, and attending several National Ataxia Foundation conferences, to name just a fraction of her contributions. Carol, you will be missed!"
